The cardboard waste is efficiently compressed directly on-site within the assembly division, streamlining the process and eliminating unnecessary steps. Instead of transporting the waste to cardboard palboxes, employees bring it in small containers to the two centrally positioned baling presses at the facility.
With a pressing power of 532 kilonewtons, the vertical HSM balers compact the cardboard into dense bales weighing approximately 450 kilograms. These compact bales are then transported to storage using forklifts.
The implementation of vertical baling presses has resulted in significant savings for the assembly division in terms of forklift trips, working hours, storage space, and palboxes. Additionally, the company has experienced increased profits. The paper factory pays a higher price per tonne of old cardboard packaging due to the compressed bales being recyclable without further processing.
Zumtobel Lighting GmbH has successfully reduced their costs by over 10,000 Euros per press per year. The investment in the two HSM V-Press 860 L presses is expected to yield a rapid return on investment.
