PAUL HARTMANN AG produces marketable bales made of cardboard and polyethylene, each weighing 400 kilograms. These bales, made from used cardboard, are sent to the cardboard supplier, thereby reducing the costs associated with acquiring new packaging materials.

The HARTMANN Group, a prominent provider of medical and hygienic products throughout Europe, employs a horizontal baling press, the HSM HL 4812, and a vertical baling press, the HSM V-Press 860 S. These machines efficiently produce bales weighing 400 kilos while occupying minimal floor space.

At the home site of PAUL HARTMANN AG, packages for end customers are assembled and then handed over to the dispatch department. This process results in the generation of carton and polyethylene waste, which previously would have been discarded. However, with the implementation of HSM baling presses, this waste is now compressed and recycled. Initially, this waste material was disposed of loosely in 40-cubic meter containers, transported to an intermediary dealer, and compressed there.

According to the logistics manager, the HSM products have made a significant positive impact. Factors such as operability, durability, high reliability, and consequently low maintenance costs with a long service life were pivotal in the decision to choose these baling presses.
